On April 21, in Can Tho City, the Vietnam – China Enterprise Trade Program was organized by the Can Tho Promotion Agency in collaboration with the Department of Industry and Trade of Lao Cai province.
The trade program is an opportunity for suppliers of agricultural, forestry and fishery products with export strengths in the Southwest region to meet, exchange and cooperate with import-export enterprises, logistics of Van Nam province, China. The Vietnam – China Enterprise Trade Program is also the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening trade cooperation between the Department of Industry and Trade of Lao Cai province (Vietnam) and the Department of Trade of Hong Ha county, Van Nam province, China signed on January 18, 2023 in Ha Khau district in order to effectively implement the policy of the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam – China on promoting goods exchange and improving the value of two-way goods turnover in 2023 and the following years. The program was attended by representatives of Long An, Tien Giang and Ben Tre, Bac Lieu Tra Vinh and 115 Mekong Delta enterprises and 13 Chinese enterprises.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Cuong, Deputy Director of the Trade Department of Hong Ha county, Van Nam province, China, said that in 2022, trade between Hong Ha and Vietnam reached 970 million USD, accounting for 30% of Vietnam and Van Nam trade; Economic and trade cooperation between Hong Ha and Vietnam has great potential, has additional advantages, and is an important cooperation partner in agricultural product trade. In 2022, agricultural products trade between Hong Ha and Vietnam reached 440 million USD, of which vegetable trade reached 120 million USD; aquatic products (fish and shrimp) reached 810,000 USD. In particular, Vietnam exports mainly dragon fruit, bananas, foodstuffs such as dried cassava, dried green beans, aquatic products (fish, shrimp); Hong Ha county exports to Vietnam mainly temperate fruits such as grapes, oranges, leafy vegetables, tubers, roots… Currently, the Provincial Party Committee, the People’s Government of Van Nam province and the Country Party Committee and the People’s Government of Hong Ha country are trying to optimize the business environment, striving for 3 years to create a leading environment in the country. Accordingly, it will promote the construction of Ha Khau border gate, continue to optimize the import and export clearance process, promote the role of “green way” of rapid customs clearance for agricultural products and agricultural by-products at Ha Khau – Lao Cai border gate, provide rapid customs clearance services for fresh products. Mr. Tran Cuong, wishes, businesses Hong Ha country can cooperate with enterprises of Can Tho City, Mekong Delta in particular, Vietnam in general to bring durian as well as agricultural and aquatic products of Vietnam to the Chinese market through Hong Ha country.
At the program, Ms. Vo Thi Thu Huong – Deputy Director of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Can Tho City branch – introduced the investment potential and opportunities in the Mekong Delta as well as the opportunity to cooperate and trade with businesses in this region with Chinese enterprises.
Within the framework of the program, on the same morning, the delegation and business leaders led by Mr. Nguyen Huy Tuong – Deputy Director of Lao Cai Provincial Department of Industry and Trade and Mr. Huynh Thanh Su – Deputy Director of Can Tho Department of Industry and Trade as the leader of the delegation went to survey Tan Thoi Cooperative I (durian cultivation) in Tan Thoi commune, Phong Dien district and visited Can Tho Fisheries Import-Export Joint Stock Company at Lot 2-12, Tra Noc 2 Industrial Park, to promote trade connection between the two countries.
Thereby, the two sides wish that businesses of Hong Ha country can cooperate with enterprises of Can Tho City, Mekong Delta in particular, Vietnam in general, to bring durian as well as other types of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products to the Chinese market through Hong Ha country.
