At the meeting to summarize in 2022 and implement the tasks and orientations in 2023 of Can Tho transportation sector held in the afternoon of December 30, Chairman of Can Tho City People’s Committee Tran Viet Truong asked the city’s transportation sector to closely coordinate with committees, branches and localities to effectively implement the Central Resolutions such as Resolution No. 13 of the Politburo on the Planning and Development of the Mekong Delta to 2030, with a vision to 2045; Resolution No. 59 of the Politburo on the construction and development of Can Tho city to 2030, with a vision to 2045; Resolution 98 of the Government on the implementation of Resolution No. 59 of the Politburo and especially Resolution No. 45 of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Can Tho city…
Accordingly, there are two mechanisms directly related to the city’s transportation sector, namely the establishment of a Center for linking, processing and consuming agricultural products in the Mekong Delta region located in Can Tho city and dredging combined with the recovery of Dinh An – Can Tho maritime fairway products by socialization for ships of 10,000 tons or more entering and leaving ports of Can Tho city.
The Chairman of the City People’s Committee asked the transportation sector to actively advise on specific mechanisms and policies to develop Can Tho city and the Mekong Delta, develop smart transportation, digital transformation, reduce greenhouse gas emissions…
At the same time, closely coordinate with Cai Rang District People’s Committee to complete the handover of 100% of the area of the Can Tho – Hau Giang expressway project right in the second quarter of 2023; coordinate with the City Construction Investment Project Management Board and relevant departments, branches and localities to complete the work to ensure the groundbreaking of the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang expressway project passing through Can Tho city before June 30, 2023.
On the other hand, the city drastically completed the site clearance and accelerated the construction of key traffic projects of the city. Strive to complete the disbursement plan in 2023 to reach over 98% of the capital plan.
According to Nguyen Hoang Tung, Deputy Director of Can Tho City Department of Transport, in 2023, the city’s transportation sector will advise and coordinate with central and local departments to accelerate the implementation of key projects to connect the region; especially the section crossing the city area such as My Thuan – Can Tho Expressway and My Thuan 2 Bridge; North-South Expressway east of Can Tho – Ca Mau section; the route connecting National Highway 91 and the route to avoid Long Xuyen city; upgrading the South Hau River Road; The stream for large vessels to enter the Hau River in phase 2.
For traffic projects implemented by Can Tho city, the sector will coordinate with departments, branches and localities to advise the city to invest in key traffic projects managed by the city such as: starting the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang highway project (expected before June 30, 2023); speeding up the construction progress of projects on the Western Ring Road of the city, Provincial Road 923, Provincial Road 917, Provincial Road 918, Provincial Road 921.
At the same time, it will complete the DPO project investment proposal with JICA loans (upgrading and expanding National Highway 61c; inter-provincial roads connecting Can Tho city with Kien Giang province and Dong Thap province; O Mon bridge).
At this time, the Ministry of Planning and Investment proposed to submit to the Prime Minister for approval and sign a loan agreement with JICA in 2023; start the project of 5 key intersections in the first phase (expected in the fourth quarter of 2023).
In addition, the city’s transportation sector will also complete investment procedures to allocate capital for the implementation of projects such as: Alley 91 axis (Long Tuyen section – Western Ring Road); Intelligent Traffic Management System (its) of Can Tho city phase 1; Construction of 14 bus parking lots combined at the beginning and end of the bus; Project to renovate and expand 5 key intersections in Can Tho city (Phase 2: Building an overpass of Mau Than – Tran Hung Dao – Ba Thang Hai and Nguyen Van Linh – Ba Thang Hai intersections); Construction and operation of Tay Do bridge, Co Do bridge…/.
