On the occasion of the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and friendly countries, on the afternoon of February 24, the Can Tho City Delegation visited and worked with the Consulate Generals of the countries in Ho Chi Minh City, the delegation was led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, together with relevant departments such as the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Union of Friendship Organizations, the Center for Promotion Investment – Trade and Can Tho Exhibition.
The delegation visited and worked with the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City, the two sides discussed coordination activities to be organized in 2022, the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Vietnam. South – Cambodia (June 24, 1967 – June 24, 2022), in order to maintain and develop the neighborly relationship, traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
At the meeting, Can Tho proposed to the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Cambodia to support and coordinate in organizing commemorative activities in Can Tho city by face-to-face/online form (depending on the situation. COVID-19 pandemic) ensures efficiency, practicality, activities are organized in a formal spirit, appropriate and commensurate with the Vietnam – Cambodia relationship. On the same afternoon of February 24, the Delegation visited and worked with the Consulate General of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Ho Chi Minh City, the two sides exchanged views on coordination activities to celebrate the occasion. 60 years of establishing diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 – September 5, 2022) and 45 years of signing the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 – July 18, 2022) between Vietnam – Laos and the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022 aim to further strengthen and promote the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam – Laos, creating a driving force for bilateral relations in all fields between the two countries in general, between Can Tho city and Laos’ localities and partners in particular.
At the meeting, Can Tho proposed to the Consulate General of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to support the promotion of the image and people in Can Tho city to the Lao people, and vice versa. The Can Tho side also proposed that the two sides coordinate to organize activities in a series of solemn events, commensurate with the reality of the relationship between Vietnam and Laos, and at the same time expand opportunities for exchanges and business connections between Vietnam and Laos. both sides.
