Can Tho promotes investment and trade with India


Webinar: Investment and Trade Promotion of Can Tho – India, organized by the Can Tho Promotion Agency in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City and related departments and agencies of Can Tho city organized on November 16, 2021 is one of the practical activities to support businesses to find and expand markets, gradually restore production and business activities, and contributing to the economic recovery and development of the City.

The conference was held online, via Zoom software with 2 main bridgeheads from the Can Tho City’s People’s Committee is chaired by Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City’s People’s Committee, together with the bridgehead at the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, chaired by Mr. Consul General Madan Mohan Sethi. In addition to businesses of Can Tho and Indian enterprises participated in the Workshop at the bridge points with more than 80 participants. The conference aims to introduce Indian businesses to information about socio-economic achievements, potentials, investment and trade opportunities and policies to support investment and trade of Can Tho; to Can Tho’s government to understand the investment and business cooperation needs of Indian businesses to be able to devise strategies to attract investment from the Indian market, at the same time connecting trade between businesses wishing to cooperate in the two markets of India – Can Tho.

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People’s Committee said that Can Tho has many potentials and advantages as the center of the Mekong Delta region, the Central Government has been investing in transport infrastructure associated with the regional planning structure as well as having specific regulations for the city. In addition, Can Tho also has abundant resources with many young and highly skilled workers, which will be a good environment for Indian businesses and investors, especially in the information technology and service industries, food processing. Mr. Nguyen Van Hong hopes that the Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City will actively act as a bridge for Indian businesses interested in cooperation and investment in Can Tho and commits to creating all the most favorable conditions for Indian businesses.

Indian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi informed and exchanged issues related to India – Vietnam bilateral friendship and trade and highly appreciated Can Tho’s potential, strengths as well as many opportunities to cooperate with India in the fields of IT, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and food processing. Noting the proposals of Can Tho City on the need for investment cooperation, Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi said that he will make efforts to promote connectivity and introduces Indian businesses to the potentials of Can Tho.

Also at the seminar, many Can Tho and Indian businesses shared and exchanged many useful information related to trade activities during the Covid-19 epidemic as well as business recovery after the pandemic.
