On the afternoon of October 28, 2021, Mr. Duong Tan Hien – Standing Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People’s Committee and leaders of departments welcomed Ms. Josefine Wallat – Consul General of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City to visit and work in Can Tho city.
At the meeting, Mr. Duong Tan Hien informed the Consul General about the prevention and control of COVID-19 in Can Tho city. At the same time, the city has developed a plan to respond to climate change with structural and non-structural solutions. These activities are integrated into the city’s socio-economic development programs.
Ms. Josefine Wallat pledged that, in her working position, she will act as a bridge to promote the most practical exchanges and cooperation between the Federal Republic of Germany and Can Tho city, especially in the field of adaptation climate change and investment promotion.
The Consul General expressed her pleasure at the welcome of the leaders of Can Tho city and highly appreciated the position of Can Tho city in the development strategy of the Mekong Delta region as well as in the control of the COVID-19 epidemic. She suggested that the leaders of Can Tho city appoint a senior city expert in the field of environment to participate in a conference on climate change organized by the German Bank for Reconstruction (KfW) and the Fund for Resilience Solutions (ISF) is scheduled to be held in November in Can Tho.
