September 27, 2013 in the hall of Can Tho People’s Committee, Can Tho Investment – Trade – Tourism Promotion Center in cooperation with the Academy of Entrepreneurship LP Vietnam seminar “Export and Investment Promotion in Dubai – birds flying model -Vietnam brand”. The purpose of seminar is to update the latest information on the rich market of the country Gulf Cooperation Council – GCC (The United Arab Emirates – UAE , Saudi Arabia , Qatar , Kuwait , Bahrain , Oman ) to Mekong Delta and Cantho ‘s exporters, the trade promotion programs support businesses about experiences and issues related to trade transactions with businesses in Dubai – in order to have new trends in export. In addition, the seminar also introduces Economic and Business Development Research Program in Dubai and Community Services Program of LP entrepreneursVietnam – Birds flying model. With the participation of 40 representatives from government departments, other promotion centers, industry associations and businesses of Can Tho and Mekong Delta provinces attended the seminar.

“Middle East and Africa as potential markets for most commodities of Vietnam, such as: textiles, agricultural products, food processing, construction materials… For these areas, the export turnover of Vietnam in the first 6 months of this year reached 2.29 billion U.S. dollars, but in Can Tho only 45 million U.S. dollars,” said by Mr. Dao Anh Dung, Vice Chairman of Can Tho People’s Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Lien Phuong said: Dubai – a city in the United Arab Emirates thatis an important gateway to the Middle East and Africa – the potential areas for consumption inVietnam, but, access to the market of domestic enterprises is very limited.
Report by the Vietnam LP Business Institute in the seminar (27-9) was showed exports of goods from Vietnam to Dubai growth in recent years, from 2.3 billion in 2012, expected to increase to 4.2 billion U.S. dollars this year.
According to Mr. Nguyen Lien Phuong, business characteristics in Dubai unlike the other areas of the world that is the reason why Vietnam businesses not directly sold in Dubai in particular and the Middle East region in general; they require a commercial presence in the region, or to direct it to be made into the company, warehouse, showroom product… “Build companies, warehouses and showrooms of the product is requisite to direct export goods in Dubai in particular and the Middle East region in general.”, said by Mr. Phuong .
Especially, he shared the new and effective trend for the business’s upcoming product is Basa fillets and smoked catfish.
After the seminar, there are a lot of opportunities to export to new markets are opening up for business in Vietnam. However, businesses still need to pay attention to issues of culture, business methods or approaches to distribution system in each market. Each country has its own demands with products, Vietnam businesses have to learn to seize opportunities. Besides, to enhance the competitiveness of products in the new market, the enterprises must overcome challenges such as the demand for sustainable manufacturing product, the market entry requirements, and so on.
