At 10 am on April 17, 2018, at 08 Ngo Huu Hanh Street, An Hoi Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Can Tho (VCCI Can Tho) and Brain Work Asia established the Japan Innovation Center for Information and Communication Technology (ICT). In line with the start-up, the network includes consultants and provinces to set up the Mekong Delta start-up center with the goal of promoting higher quality start-ups and considering this one as the important goals of VCCI Can Tho in the future.
Mr. Truong Quang Hoai Nam, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People’s Committee, informed that VCCI Can Tho set up an ICT research center in Can Tho is not only good news for Can Tho but also for the Mekong Delta. It will be a big turning point contributing to the attraction of Japanese FDI, development of information and communication technology in this area. According to data from VCCI Can Tho: At present, Japanese FDI reaches over 40 billion USD, ranking second in the list of countries investing in Viet Nam, but the Mekong Delta has attracted 140 projects with capital registered over 645 million USD. However, the good news is that in recent times, FDI in this area tends to increase, in the first nine months of this year, attracted 12 new projects with registered capital of nearly 25 million.
Mr. Kondo, Chairman of Brain Works, said that Can Tho has many similarities with his hometown, so when in Can Tho he feels like staying at home, this is also a reason why he decided to invest in Can Tho. Also, Can Tho, the Mekong Delta is a major agricultural center of Viet Nam with the potential of land and climate where little is available. He came from a farmer family who was very knowledgeable and appreciative of the farm produce made by the farmer’s hard-working hands. “Brain Works with Can Tho City in addition to the economic purpose also want to contribute to improve the quality of agricultural products, improve the income of farmers here,” Kondo confided.
These centers will be the place for the development of information technology in Can Tho city, linking companies, incubating creative ideas and then developing into real projects.
