Can Tho City work with Korea Institute of Technology and Public Environment

On 10/10/2017, Mr. Pham Gia Tuc – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Can Tho city and representatives of some departments of Can Tho city met and worked with Mr. Jung, Gun Young – Director of South Korea Institute of Technology and Public Environment. It is the third time that Mr. Jung visited Can Tho City.

At the meeting, Mr. Pham Gia Tuc, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Can Tho city, said that Can Tho City is striving to become the technology transfer center of the whole country, a high-quality medical center, logistic center, etc. In recent years, the city’s investment attraction policy has focused on areas of high-tech science and environmental concentration.

According to Mr. Jung, the South Korean government is concerned about climate change and that Vietnam is now a strategic partner of South Korea. The South Korean Ministry of Environment is concerned about solid waste and turning waste into energy. He introduced the functions and tasks of the Institute, providing planning and planning directions for waste treatment, researching in urban risk development, and he hoped to find partners and cooperation on the field.

Also at the meeting, Mr. Pham Gia Tuc and representatives of the departments also provided and exchanged information for South Korean investors, Can Tho City has developed the consultancy of the Ministry of Construction with France and was reviewed by The United States and other countries, however, we should also review the planning implemented. Can Tho expects investors to invest in the hazardous industrial waste treatment plant and also in normal industrial waste treatment plants. The city now has 15 hectares for the project. Also, Can Tho city has invested in monitoring stations for air, surface water and groundwater.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Jung shared that he recognized the interest of the city, he would try to get funding from the South Korean government for the Can Tho and look forward to working at Can Tho. In response to the South Korean side, Mr. Pham Gia Tuc said that the city would support and create favorable conditions for investors when coming to Can Tho and efforts to work with airlines with the expectation to connect South Korea with Can Tho by direct flight from Can Tho airport to Incheon airport, South Korea.
